As economies in Latin America grow, and new trade accords further open the region, business travel is on the rise. Several airlines report strong demand for their business and first class seats, especially on long-haul flights like New York to São Paulo. Meanwhile, airplane manufacturers say that Latin America is one of their best growth areas because inter-regional travel is expanding as low-cost airlines lure consumers off buses and into the skies. In 2005, a record 76 million passengers flew in the region.

With such traffic increases, more than ever it’s worth booking ahead and knowing the ins and outs of big Latin American cities. With the road weary and trendsetters in mind, LatinFinance has again published its annual corporate travel guide Upgrade with fresh tips on the best airlines by market, plus the hottest new restaurants and hotels by destination.

Close to 700 readers responded to our poll this year, with suggestions ranging from where to pick up designer duds in Argentina to where to rumba in Venezuela. Upgrade also features recommendations for letting off steam, be it on bicycle in the Florida Everglades or deep-sea fishing off the coast of Trinidad.

In hotels, our readers look for essentials like high speed Internet and express check out options. They often veer toward the luxury lodgings and fine dining, although we also got a fair amount of budget suggestions in a number of cities.

Our readers are our eyes and ears. Let us know what you’d like to see in Upgrade going forward by dropping us a line at
