This week is Paraguay’s turn to switch presidents. Mario Abdo Benitez takes office on the 15th of August and his predecessor Horacio Cartes heads to the Senate, but without a vote. Cartes ran for congress and tried unsuccessfully to resign as president to take his seat as elected senator. He now inherits the seat reserved to ex-presidents, which gives him a voice without a vote.

Here are some of the economic indicators coming out this week:

Monday Mexico will learn how the tourism sector is performing when the data office Inegi publishes its quarterly report.
In Colombia the statistics office Dane publishes monthly service sector performance in June and numbers for construction prices in

Tuesday,  Brazil’s statistics office tells us about the service sector in June. In May the indicator showed a 2.1% contraction compared to 2017.
On the same day Colombia publishes manufacturing sector index variation in June.

Wednesday Brazil’s the Central Bank has its monthly activity report  IBC-Br for June. The previous reading showed a 3.34% contraction from the previous month, with some analysts expecting an expansion this time around.
Another indication coming from Brazil will be the the flow of foreign currency.
In Argentina inflation numbers come out in the afternoon.Consumer prices showed a 3.9% hike in the last reading.
On the same day Peru releases its employment, confidence and national production data.

Thursday Mexico will release the minutes from its last monetary policy meeting and Chile its quarterly construction sector numbers for July.

Friday Mexico publishes its manufacturing sector index in June.
